Wine: Carol Shelton Karma Zin 2005
Old Vine Zin
Russian River Valley (Rue Vineyard Wood Rd to be specific lol)
O.K. so up front I have to admit that I've always liked the wines by Ms. Shelton so I might be a bit biased.
Nose: spicy, black pepper, dark cherry hint of lavender, nose is hot but at 14.8% this is a big boy.

This one is a bit young so I recommend aerating it a bit before enjoying it. For a zin this baby is pretty dry and has more tannins then you would expect. fruit is dark and spicy with some hints of raisin. Oak is very light, all in all a well structured zin but i would not recommend this wine to someone new to reds. Oh and the cheese of the night is "My name is Bruce" an absolute must see for any Bruce Campbell fan. "Hail to the King Baby"..............Drink What Like and Like What You Drink.

after about 45 min, has opened up nice, blackberry, chocolate, raz, still a bit past it's prime but has turned out to be better then fist impression. If you come across this, decant, there is a bit of sediment. Now that the wine has gotten better, I hope the cheese improves.

2000 Cardinale
75% cab
25% merlot
mix of Napa and Sonoma fruit
Nose: awesome right out of the gate, deep dark berry and a hint of earthiness.
Taste: a bit light, may be a few years past prime but still has enough tannins to give it some structure. Chocolate and blackberry and a little menthol, unbalnced, I wonder if I had popped this 2 years ago if it would have had more fruit on it, oh well I gonna go enjoy it with some good ol American cheese, Transformers 2 to be exact. :P -Drink what you like and like what you drink!
